Pilar Fragalà has more than 20 years of experience as an educator, researcher, and consultant in the banking field. She has obtained over the years vast experience in the financial sector, with a profound knowledge of traditional and innovative business models in the area of Transaction Banking.

Born in Rome in 1976, she graduated in Economics at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with a research thesis on the synergies of “Multifunctional Banking Groups” following which she continued her collaboration with the University, teaching in a course on Banking Law. Over the years, she accrued extensive and transversal experience in the banking system, moving from Banca Mediolanum to ABI and – from an initial experience in CBI – to a lengthier tenure experience at BNP Paribas Group in BNL, where she also held the position of a board member of one of the Group’s entities. Since 2020, she is Chief Commercial Officer at CBI S.c.p.a., in addition, to being an advisor to the Board of Directors of XBRL Italy.

Andrew has nearly a decade of experience researching account-to-account payment systems globally and has supported numerous industry players on six continents, including clearing houses, payment associations, government regulators, technology providers, and various fintechs. He has advised clients on topics as wide-ranging from ACH migration to real-time payments, cross-border payment regulations, data standards, global payment system modernization, and account-to-account payment fraud.

Andrew is a member of various payment associations, including the Frankfurt Payments Network; the US Faster Payments Council, where he is a member of three working groups and the Board Advisory Group; and the Payments Innovation Alliance Advisory Committee for Emerging Payments. Andrew has presented at various payment conferences, including Nacha’s Smarter Faster Payments (2018 & 2022), the Payments Innovation Alliance meetings, the Frankfurt Payments Network, and various smaller conferences held by regional payment associations in the United States.

Andrew completed his dual bachelor’s degree in political science and history at the University of California, San Diego and his master’s degree in public policy at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany.

Markus began his career at Deutsche Bank in DB Research as executive assistant to the chief economist. During his studies at Muenster University in Germany, he acquired broad international experience with focus on China, later working as an Economist at Allianz Life Insurance in Shanghai. Markus has held teaching posts in corporate finance and economics, being a visiting scholar at the Frankfurt School of Finance and the University of Bayreuth as well as at the Banking and Finance Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.
