
Simon Redfern
Pioneering Open Banking since February 2010, Simon Redfern is the CEO of TESOBE and Founder of the Open Bank Project. Simon studied electronic engineering in Manchester in the early 80’s and focused on real time programming and digital systems. He then got into networks, spreadsheets, “pre-RDBMS”, and RDBMS, the web in the early 90’s and then NoSQL again! These days, he mainly works with Scala on Open Bank Project related activities. Based between Berlin and London, Simon has worked as a software developer, architect, sysadmin, DBA and CTO on numerous web / mobile platforms. Simon has full stack technology experience including: Scala, Python, Linux, Node, Oracle, Postgres, Redis, MongoDB, Akka and Kafka to name but a few. Always keen to explore emerging technologies, Simon is also a composer and enjoys interdisciplinary creative collaborations. Simon is a keen supporter of open source and open data believing they are a sustainable force for social good. Simon was a technical lead on the UK open banking standards design group
