Nik Johan Abidin Bin Yaakob holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from University Utara Malaysia and a Diploma in Banking Studies from MARA Institute of Technology, which have formed the foundation of his distinguished career in banking. With over 28 years of experience, including 18 years in Fixed Income/Money Market Operations and 10 years in Treasury System Implementation, Nik Johan is a highly skilled and knowledgeable leader in the financial sector.

Currently, he serves as Director and Head of Treasury Operations at AFFIN Bank and AFFIN Islamic Bank Berhad. In this role, he oversees the full spectrum of Treasury Operations, providing end-to-end support for Money Market, Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, and Derivatives transactions. His responsibilities include trade verification, settlements, margin management, and system support, with a strong focus on compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia guidelines and Shariah requirements for Islamic banking.

Nik Johan has successfully led the implementation of several critical projects, such as the Quantum and Intellimatch system upgrades, which have significantly improved processing efficiencies and reduced operational risks. He also spearheaded the migration of RENTAS to ISO20022, utilizing Power Automate to automate the conversion process and ensuring full regulatory compliance while achieving substantial cost savings for the bank. SWIFT ISO20022 Foreign Currency Settlement Optimization: enhanced the treasury systems to seamlessly generate the MX format and enable Straight Through Processing (STP) to SWIFT. This eliminated manual intervention in foreign currency settlements, significantly reducing errors, boosting efficiency, and ensuring faster transaction times

Before his current position, Nik Johan held senior roles at Hong Leong Bank and RHB Bank, where he managed Money Market, Fixed Income, and Islamic Operations, and was instrumental in the implementation of the Murex Treasury System at RHB Bank. His career highlights include leading projects that streamlined treasury operations across multiple entities, including offshore branches, and winning the Best Regional Treasury Management Project Award from the Asian Banker for his work on Quantum Treasury System integration.

Nik Johan has undergone specialized training in the RENTAS Industry Training and Development Program. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead teams, optimize processes, and deliver strategic solutions, making him an asset to any organization.
