Atul Bhuchar

Atul is the Head of Transaction Banking at SMBC, where he is at the forefront of shaping the future of global market infrastructures in payments, FX, liquidity, securities, and digital assets. With a career spanning multiple domains of financial services, Atul operates at the intersection of traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi), bringing transformative digital strategies to the banking landscape.

Previously, Atul served as Executive Director and Group Payments Head for GTS at DBS, where he pioneered innovative digital initiatives and redefined customer journeys. He was instrumental in developing the “3i” payments strategy—instant, intelligent, and integrated—to create a seamless, “invisible” banking experience for customers.

Atul’s extensive cross-functional experience spans product development and management, product sales, relationship management, and operations. His expertise also covers cash management, trade, supply chain financing, securities services, corporate banking, and treasury. Known for his leadership in product innovation, Atul specializes in product management, P&L management, and transaction banking, consistently advancing the digital transformation of commercial banking.
